Enrollment Procedures
Please see the detailed instructions below regarding enrollment in the Driscoll Extended Day Program.
New Families:
Do you want to join the DEDP afterschool program? Fill out our interest form!
If you are interested in joining DEDP, please fill out an interest form from the front page of our site. Interest forms for the upcoming school year will be made available at the beginning of January.
Preschool Enrollment/Lottery
If the school year has already begun and your child is already enrolled in one of the early education classrooms at Driscoll School:
Please fill out an interest form for the current school year. (Please note, the DEDP classroom for this age group is a combination of both Preschool and Pre-K). If there is a spot available, we will reach out to you promptly; if the classroom is fully enrolled, we will add your family to the waitlist for the classroom and reach out if a space becomes available throughout the school year.
If you are applying for the upcoming school year and your child is not yet enrolled in an early education classroom at Driscoll School:
Families who would like to enroll in either the Preschool or Pre-K classrooms at Driscoll School must apply through the Brookline Early Education Program (BEEP). They hold their own lottery each year, usually in the first week of March - this is a separate process from the DEDP lottery. All applicants for the DEDP PK room for the upcoming year will be placed in a list; we will hold our own lottery from this list once BEEP placements have closed, around mid-March. We will reach out to families on this date and let everyone know of either their acceptance status.
If you are in a buffer zone and Driscoll is a possible location for your child’s placement, we highly recommend applying before the lottery is held. There is no fee to apply to DEDP, and if you receive a space with us but are later placed at a different school, you can give up the space without consequence.
If you have been waitlisted by the BEEP lottery, you are still welcome to apply to our program. We will reach out to you if/when a space becomes available at DEDP to find out if your enrollment status has changed since the time of the lottery.
Kindergarten Enrollment/Lottery
If the school year has already begun and your child is already enrolled in one of the kindergarten classrooms at Driscoll School:
Please fill out an interest form for the current school year. If there is a spot available, we will reach out to you promptly; if the classroom is fully enrolled, we will add your family to the waitlist for the classroom and reach out if a space becomes available throughout the school year.
If you are applying for the upcoming school year and your child is not yet enrolled in a kindergarten classroom at Driscoll School:
Families applying to join the DEDP Kindergarten classroom will be added to a waitlist. We hold our Kindergarten lottery in the first week of April. All applicants on the waitlist will be contacted about whether their child has been either accepted or waitlisted for the program by the end of that week.
If you are in a buffer zone and Driscoll is a possible location for your child’s placement, we highly recommend applying before the lottery is held. There is no fee to apply to DEDP, and if you receive a space with us but are later placed at a different school, you can give up the space without consequence.
Please note that our waitlists are separate for each day of the week. If you have requested five days of care, we will reach out once two or more of those days become available.
1st-5th Grade Enrollment
If the school year has already begun and your child is already enrolled in one of the school-age classrooms at Driscoll School:
Please fill out an interest form for the current school year. If there is a spot available, we will reach out to you promptly; if the classroom is fully enrolled, we will add your family to the waitlist for the classroom and reach out if a space becomes available throughout the school year.
Please note that our waitlists are separate for each day of the week. If you have requested five days of care, we will reach out once two or more of those days become available.
Returning Families
Fill out the Re-Enrollment Agreement
All currently-enrolled families will be sent an email in the Spring asking to confirm their interest in re-enrolling for the upcoming year. Families who would like to return will be sent an enrollment agreement for the upcoming year, with full enrollment materials to follow.
DEDP Admissions Policy:
Admission to the DEDP Program is granted on a first-come, first-served basis, with the following priorities:
Enrollment priority is given to "working parents, those who of necessity are students in schools or in employment training programs, and those who are referred by the Pupil Support staff or the Principal." (Brookline School Committee Policy 1/87.)
Returning students - applications are sent first to families whose children attended the Program the previous year.
Buffer zone and town employees need to apply to all extended day programs in the schools their child may be placed in. DEDP will hold their slot until a determination from the town is made.
Application to the Program is made each year by filling out a preliminary enrollment, full enrollment agreement, and submitting a non-refundable registration fee and a deposit. Returning students are not considered re-enrolled until this process is complete. If the child cannot be accepted or is not admitted to Driscoll School, the deposit will be refunded. Otherwise, the deposit is non-refundable.
